Seeking help for mental health can be a difficult and confusing process. To help answer some of your questions and alleviate any concerns, we have compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions about our services and approach to psychiatric care. Psychiatrists are medical doctors, who specialize in mental health. After going through medical school they complete 4 years of residency training to gain expertise in diagnosing and treating psychiatric problems, including prescribing medication and conducting therapy. After residency some psychiatrists enter further, subspecialty training like child and adolescent psychiatry or geriatric psychiatry. The main difference between psychiatrists and other mental health providers is this extensive medical training, including thorough knowledge of medication and their effect on the target symptoms and the whole body.
Yes. The practice utilizes a HIPAA compliant medical record, with multiple safeguards in place to ensure data security. Patient information is only shared with written consent of the patient and only with the individuals and organizations specified on the authorized release of information form.
The only exception to the above role is an imminent risk of harm, when the duty to warn and protect overrides confidentiality.
The practice currently is not in network for any insurance carriers, but the patients are provided with “superbill” for reimbursement from their carriers for out of network benefits.
The fees are due at the time of the visit. The practice accepts Visa and Master card.
Appointments can be conveniently scheduled online, under the scheduling tab or through the patient portal.
The first appointment is 60 minuets long to ensure we have sufficient time to discuss your concerns, questions, go through a detailed history. This visit is also very important for getting to now each other and to start building a therapeutic relationship that is going to be the foundation of our work together. If appropriate at the end of the first visit we will schedule a follow-up.
